AIAR Guidelines Sheet
Beginning August 2007, the Albright Institute accepts only online recommendation and application forms, except for the Getty Exchange Fellowship (see links above). All regular and associate recommendations and applications are submitted through a secure server to the fellowships committee and are kept confidential.
Logon: The above links will provide recommenders and applicants with their own logon id and password.
Sample Forms: To get an idea of what online application and recommendation forms look like before registering, you may view the following forms in PDF format. These forms are for viewing only and not for submission. (If you do not have Acrobat Reader installed on your system, you can download it free from this link. With it you can read and print out the PDF application file.)
Foreign language characters: Recommenders and applicants are encouraged to upload files whenever possible in the online forms. If you wish to input foreign language characters into fields within your online form, you may do so in a number of ways:
- Your keyboard may already be set to type in foreign characters and will automatically do so. If the foreign characters show up accurately in the field you are typing in the form, then they will also be retained when the form is submitted.
- If your keyboard is not set up for this, you may want to type your text first in a WORD document using foreign characters. If you do this, be sure to use the INSERT button at the top of your WORD menu and insert SYMBOL from the drop down list. Here you will be able to find a number of foreign characters and accent marks and insert them into your text. The text from the WORD document can then be copied and pasted into the form fields you are completing. If the foreign characters show up accurately in the field when you paste in your text, then they will also be retained when the form is submitted. Please note: The FONT setting for foreign characters in WORD will generally NOT retain foreign characters as this is actually just a style. Please use the INSERT SYMBOL function.
- You may also copy and paste any foreign text from the web. This html-based text will be retained when you submit your form.

References: Please be sure to ask your recommenders well in advance of the deadline to submit letters through this online site. You will want to provide them with the link to this page: Albright Forms
Saving your form: You should save your forms as often as possible while filling them out so that you do not lose your data. You may do this by scrolling down to the bottom of the form and hit SAVE. You may also save and close your form and return to it later to complete it. Once you hit the FINAL SUBMIT button, your form will be sent and you will no longer be able to edit it. Once your application has been received, you will receive an email message confirming your submission.
